Why Is It Necessary To Remove Mould To Stay Healthy

Sodium bicarbonate or baking soda is a strong base that inhibits mould growth. It is a non-toxic, inexpensive product, and is easy to mix with water.

Whatever cleaning product you use, don’t rinse away completely. Leave a bit of cleaner; it will prevent the growth of mould in future.

Remove Mould From Fabric

If mould has developed all-around your home, it may become troublesome to salvage the fabric items. This usually happens during floods. However, if it has happened due to dampness, you can fix it early. It can be removed easily from the fabrics.

Take the items outside and brush as much mould away as possible. If the fabric is washable, use hot water as described in the label and add a disinfectant. If stains still remain, make a solution of water and oxygen bleach. Soak the clothes in this solution for at least eight hours.

If the fabric can only be dry cleaned, brush away the mould and take it to a cleaning professional. This way, you can restore most fabrics from the mould.

If Mould Forms On Leather Items, Furniture, or Other Accessories

Remove mould on leather shoes, purses, coats, or furniture from outside, if possible. Dip a cloth in distilled white vinegar followed by a good lather soap and warm water. Wipe down the surface of the items. Then, dry these items with a soft cloth and let them air dry completely. You can apply a leather conditioner afterward.

For Household Appliances

Appliances like coffee makers, washers, refrigerators, etc. combine food, moisture, and heat to feed mould. Therefore, it is crucial to wash them frequently. For cleaning washers, run a hot water cycle with chlorine bleach at least once in a month.

Make sure that every nook and corner of these appliances have been cleaned off the mould. You can use distilled white vinegar for cleaning refrigerators and coffee makers.

Remove Mould From Exterior Home Surfaces

Chlorine bleach is an excellent cleaning agent for concrete, brick, stone, etc. However, it can be harmful to plants. Before you use it for cleaning mould in the exteriors, make sure to cover the plants with a heavy plastic sheet.

With these easy tips, you can get rid of mould present in the interior or exterior of your home.
